After completing five years of study at the University of Sydney, Dr Kamal graduated with a degree in dentistry. He then pursued a further three years amounting to 5,000 hours of additional study, graduating and mastering the specialisation of orthodontics, again at the University of Sydney.
Adding to his academic and professional accomplishments, Dr Kamal is a member of the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Orthodontics, European Orthodontic Society, and Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in Orthodontics at the United Kingdom.
In addition to his vast experience with traditional braces, Dr Kamal is one of Australia’s rare Platinum Elite Invisalign Providers, gaining recognition for his world-class excellence and experience in optimal patient service and results.
South Coast Orthodontics is located at Corrimal, but regularly serves patients from the Illawarra including Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Otford, Windang, Maddens Plain, and Cordeaux. Throughout Dr Kamal Ahmed’s decades of experience in dentistry and orthodontics, thousands of customers also regularly drive in from outside of the Illawarra including Sydney, to ensure that their braces and Invisalign treatments are directly led under the experience, care, work and supervision of Dr Kamal.
Dr. Anél Blignaut brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our practice in the Illawarra. Born and raised in South Africa, Anél graduated with her dental degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001. After gaining experience in Cape Town and the Netherlands, she took a sabbatical year to travel the globe before settling in Australia in 2007. It was in Cairns, while working for Queensland Health, that she rediscovered her passion for orthodontics and decided to pursue her specialty.
Completing her specialist training at the University of Sydney in 2014, Dr. Blignaut earned her membership to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and certification from the Australian Orthodontic Board. In 2015, she acquired an orthodontic practice in Manly, where she quickly became an integral part of the local community and the orthodontic society.
Dr. Blignaut is not only a dedicated orthodontist, but is also a leader within the profession. She has served as the treasurer for the Sydney Orthodontic Alumni for six years and is currently the president of the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Additionally, she is the Vice President of the Manly Warringah Dental Study Group and actively participates on the Community Information Committee, overseeing the Orthodontics Australia website and social media.
Her commitment to continuous learning is evident; Dr. Blignaut regularly attends conferences, lectures at local study groups, and serves as an Honorary Clinical Educator at the University of Sydney’s Orthodontic Department.
Ms. Aislinn R. Creagh is a highly skilled and experienced Dental Therapist, dedicated to providing exceptional oral healthcare at South Coast Orthodontics.
Aislinn graduated with distinction from Sydney University in 2009, earning a Bachelor of Oral Health (Therapy). Her academic achievements and commitment to excellence during her studies set the foundation for her successful career in dentistry.
Throughout her education, Aislinn gained comprehensive knowledge and practical training in various aspects of oral health. Her coursework covered a wide range of subjects, including dental anatomy, oral pathology, radiography, periodontics, restorative dentistry, and paediatric dentistry. This extensive academic background equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities of oral health and the skills necessary to provide comprehensive dental therapy services.
Aislinn’s dedication to professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in dentistry is evident in her continuous pursuit of further education and training. She regularly attends conferences, workshops, and seminars to expand her knowledge and refine her skills. By staying abreast of the latest research and techniques, Aislinn ensures that her patients receive the most advanced and effective treatments available.
In addition to her formal qualifications, Aislinn has accumulated a wealth of practical experience in the field. She has spent over a decade working in private practice in the Wollongong area, where she has honed her skills as both a dental hygienist and a dental therapist. This hands-on experience has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of patient needs and tailor her treatments to provide the highest level of care.
Aislinn’s qualifications and experience enable her to provide a wide range of dental therapy services at South Coast Orthodontics. As a dental hygienist, she specialises in periodontal treatment, offering thorough cleanings, scaling and root planing, and personalised oral hygiene instructions. Her expertise in this area allows her to effectively manage and treat gum disease, helping patients achieve and maintain healthy gums.
As a dental therapist, Aislinn focuses on providing comprehensive care to children up to 18 years old. She conducts thorough examinations, performs restorations, extractions, and pulp treatments in primary teeth. Her gentle and compassionate approach creates a comfortable environment for young patients, ensuring their dental needs are met with utmost care and sensitivity.
Aislinn’s qualifications, continuous education, and practical experience make her a trusted professional in the field of dental therapy, and valuable member of the South Coast Orthodontics family. In her spare time, Aislinn enjoys swimming, running, yoga, and watching rugby league.
Ms Meghana N Pai is a female Oral Health Therapist who speaks Hindi and Kannada (as well as English).
In 2016, Meg returned to her hometown, Wollongong, and is currently working as a dental hygienist and therapist with Ambience Dental. Meg currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary for the ADOHTA NSW -Oral Health Therapist’s professional association.
As an Oral Health Therapist, Meg enjoys the preventative and early intervention aspect of dentistry and is passionate about tailoring diet and hygiene advice to suit the individual needs and lifestyle of her patients. Meg strives to provide comfortable and effective treatment and works collaboratively with the dentists and specialists at Ambience dental to ensure best treatment outcomes for her clients.
Meg has undertaken volunteer work in rural Australia at various Aboriginal dental facilities as well as travelled to Cambodia and South India to provide dental treatment to children living with special needs and poverty.
