Hello, I’m Dr Kamal Ahmed, the owner and specialist orthodontist from South Coast Orthodontics at Corrimal in New South Wales, Australia.
My practice is 115km from the hustle and bustle of Australia’s crown jewel of Sydney. During the daily drive from my home at Sydney to the Illawarra, I regularly ask myself what more I should be doing in life.
It’s a question that most people my age ask themselves. With a supportive wife, three beautiful children and over a decade’s experience as an orthodontist, the answer to that question always leads to one word: knowledge.
I’ve spent so much of my life acquiring knowledge. This includes sleepless nights reading medical and dentistry textbooks, journals, news and advancements. I’ve also acquired years of practical hands-on experience.
Now, sharing knowledge is the only career path that matters most to me.
It is my life’s mission.
Firstly, I claim no ownership or authority on the knowledge I share. I’m not an academic who originates theories. I simply love knowledge and the value it brings when shared. I also believe in the democratisation of knowledge, and that it belongs to more than just the privileged few. The faster we disseminate knowledge across all industries, all specialisations, all social spheres and all geographic boundaries, the faster the human race will evolve and elevate.
My key focus for knowledge-sharing will centre on orthodontics, dentistry and the medical industry. Also, I will foray into the world of business and entrepreneurship, as there are key lessons I’ve learnt that would be valuable for future business operators and leaders.
The next question is which platform will serve myself and everybody best. There are a lot of popular platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Threads and Instagram. However, I’ve decided to use this website www.southcoastorthodontics.com.au as both my company and blog site. I’ve always been a bit shy and reluctant to produce YouTube videos. However, whenever I start writing, I just can’t stop. Such is my enjoyment for writing that I’ve created an RSS Feed that you can subscribe to here, so that you’re always alerted about my new blog posts.
Anyway, I’ll end this first post by clearly and simply stating my mission:
“To pass the privilege of the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained in life to everybody who is ready to learn and develop. My aim is to teach students who are ready to learn”.
Welcome to my world.
I’m Dr Kamal from South Coast Orthodontics, and thank you for reading my first blog post.
Yours truly,
Dr Kamal
PS… And oh, by the way: What do you call a fish that likes to wear a bowtie? Sofishticated.
