Recognised as Specialist of the Year | A Moment of Gratitude
There are moments in life that quietly remind you why you chose your career path.
Recently, I was honoured to be recognised as one of Australia’s Specialists of the Year at the prestigious Australian Dentistry Awards. The ceremony took place at the historic Melbourne Town Hall on Swanston Street, where dental professionals from across the country gathered to celebrate clinical excellence and leadership in dentistry.
While the evening was exciting, it prompted reflection, not on achievement, but on people.
The People Behind Every Smile
Everything I do is for the individuals and families who place their trust in me every day.
The children who walk in feeling nervous and leave smiling.
The teenagers who begin treatment unsure and grow in confidence.
The adults who finally feel proud of their smile.
These are the moments that stay with me. These are the moments that truly matter in orthodontic care.
A Meaningful Recognition for Our Region
This recognition carries special meaning because South Coast Orthodontics was the only orthodontic or dental practice in the entire Illawarra region to be acknowledged at this level.
No other local dentist or orthodontist received national recognition in any category that year.
This is not something I take lightly. It brings both gratitude and responsibility. It confirms what I have always believed, that families in our community deserve access to specialist orthodontic care that stands alongside the best in Australia without needing to travel far from home.
World-class orthodontic care should be local, personal, and accessible.
Orthodontics Is About People, Not Just Treatment
Orthodontics is not only about appliances or techniques. It is about confidence, self-belief, and personal transformation.
A healthy smile can change how someone speaks, laughs, and interacts with the world. Seeing that transformation never loses its meaning.
